It will be an incredible way to begin our running group's adventures through the City!

Time: 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, the 11th
Place: Meet at Fountain Square
Length: 3.5 miles

Bring as many friends as you'd like...the more, the merrier! Misery loves company, after all :)

What's up, Ladies?

So our marathon plans kinda fizzled out at the starting gate... anybody still up to running together? I love the idea of this group!

East side Morning Run

See ya in the morning at 6 am, right? I'm riding with my neighbor, Alison, from across the street. Remember, the one who almost died a couple months ago. She is my motivation. If she (who was literally on death's door) can do it, than I can do it! (Hopefully!)

Polyhy..what??

Hey ladies. I'm sad to report that I have been diagnosed with polyhydrmnios (high amniotic fluid). Right now it is not too much of a concern for my Dr but they are going to monitor with ultrasounds every appointment and stress tests on Armon.
One of the common side effects of this is rupturing of the membranes or premature labor so I can't do anything high impact...:( I can still get on the elliptical, stairmaster and lift, but no more jogging or running.
Please don't forget about me because I will be back as soon as I am recovered from giving birth!

Running Route actually determined!

Each week, we'll be doing short runs during the week and one longer run on Saturday. Don't worry--the length of the runs doesn't really increase for several weeks, so they'll stay short for a bit, but we'll still make that Saturday run a Fun Run through Cincinnati.

Anyone who so desires can meet at Swaim Park (it's on Cooper Road, in between Kenwood and Montgomery Roads in Montgomery. We'll run at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. That's a very safe area, so even if one or two people are doing the run, it will be safe at that time.

If that's too far for you Westsiders--I need a Westside person to decide a route and post it here for others to join you. It should be someplace that accomodates 3 to 6 mile runs easily.

On Saturday afternoon, I will post the running schedule chart so everyone can see in advance what our plan is. And each Sunday, I will post the route for the following Saturday's Fun Run Through Cincinnati!

thank God for port-o-potty's!!!!

Hey ladies!
I did the Foodstore run today. It was good:) My time was 41 minutes..but that was with two bathroom stops and a water break.:) I felt really frustrated because I felt so slow but it was still a challenge and I enjoyed it.
I will keep my eye's open for more races and please keep me posted as you see them as well. I'm excited to start our running on week days and Saturdays:)

This Week's Assignment

Hi Hot Chicks!

We're working on the logistics and trying to nail down routes and times to run. So this week, why don't you get your body ready to really run. If you're not used to running and will just be getting out, I asked a running expert what you should do--he said that you should run/walk 30 min. at least 3 or 4 times this week. If you can go out longer, great! But go at least 30 minutes. If you're used to running, then do what you need to do this week to prepare for running a total of 14 miles next week.

We'll try to figure out the logistics in order to really start our runs next week--with our first Saturday run being June 6th!! Is that cool with everyone?

Memorial Day Run

Hey ladies!!

My girlfriend Sarah Young and I are doing the Memorial Day run at Otto Armleder Memorial Park at 9am Monday. It's only a 5k (3.1 miles) and would be a great way to get a jump start. You don't have to run balls out fast the entire time. I will be doing a combo of jogging/walking with my current 21 weeks of pregnancy. Let me know if you want to join us and we can meet!

Welcome, Moms Running After Kids!

I'm so excited that all of you want to join this running group! Okay--maybe "want" is not the accurate term. Maybe I should say that I'm excited you are willing to join this running group!

Because of everyone being so spread out all over the city, we decided that we'd have two different groups that will meet on weekdays for "short" runs: the West Siders and the East Siders (sorry for being so generic!) The ladies in each group will get together and figure out when they want to try to meet and where. And then every Saturday morning, the groups will come together for a longer run all throughout Cincinnati.

More details will be forthcoming....but for now, here's what we need to decide:

1) A name for our cool group. Flora thought of the name "Moms Running After Kids" (see the double meaning, eh?) and then we realized the acronym is Moms Raks, which is hilarious. If any of you can come up with a name that people like better, or if anyone is uncomfortable with the name, PLEASE SPEAK UP! We can totally change the name.

2) Cool apparel. We're thinking that on our Saturday runs, we want to stand out :) so we thought when we get a name, we can design tshirts/tanks/visors etc for us to wear! If you have a design idea or color that you want, cast your vote!! Otherwise, we'll hope that Flora can work her magic to convince her artist-husband to design something for us!

Hopefully I'll get more info on this site in the next few days. Oh--you are all authors on this blog, so you should be able to create your own posts to announce a running time/place or to ask the group a question or any other info that you think would be helpful. You should also be able to comment on everyone's posts.

Looking forward to seeing more of you as we run....and, subsequently, LESS of you as we run (for those of us trying to knock off some poundage!)
